"Gargoyles in the Garden" is the original pencil drawing done for the cover of Lower Than The Angels.

I used a number 2 pencil just like the one many kids use to do their school work!  When the drawing was reproduced for the cover, the printer just printed it in maroon ink. (c) VW Crist All Rights Reserved.

This is the pencil drawing I rendered for the back cover of the Science Fiction, Science Fact, and Fantasy Anthology: Lower Than The Angels.

Again, I used a number 2 pencil. And again, the printer printed the drawing in maroon ink. I like the resulting cover illustrations, but a part of me still prefers to see the drawing in the graytones of pencil. (c) VW Crist All Rights Reserved.

   "Mermaid & her Friends" was inspired by an idea I had for a short story. I painted my main character in acrylics, and then, knew I'd have to write the story to go with the illo. In the meantime, the illo caught the eye of publisher, David Kriebel, who used it for the cover of the Lite Circle Books anthology: Through A Glass Darkly.  A fun cover I did was for the antho: Set Me As A Seal Upon Your Heart. The challenge was to draw a cover that worked as a front, back & wrap-around!
